Hart's Mortuary's newest location, Hart's at the Cupola, will be featured at an Open House event on Sunday, August 17 from 2-5 p.m. Formerly owned and operated by the Homebuilders Association of Middle Georgia, the Cupola, with its distinctive rotunda lobby, has been extensively renovated by the Milton Heard family to create one of the most impressive, awe-inspiring mortuaries in the area. Each room features flat-screened TV monitors for tasteful broadcast of facility information, including biographical information and photos of the deceased; a coffee shop for visitors and family members; a stately chapel that features a baby grand piano, an ornate rosewood pulpit, and an original stained glass window set titled "The Rose Window of the Eternal Light." You can meet the stained glass designer/artist at the Open House, which will also feature tours by the staff, historic exhibits (including a 1937 antique hearse and a replica of Lincoln's casket).
